Blogging Challenge: Day Four: Seven favourite posts from your blog

Hi there!

Here goes my fourth day of the blogging challenge. This is my seventh post and I could say I like every post I've ever written on this blog buuuttt I thought I would switch things up a little bit and find 7 posts that I like around the blogesphere.
Personally, I try to avoid many book or movie review posts because I'm genuinely scared of too much being given away lol in saying that, I do like having a quick flick through to find something new to read. Other than that I don't have a specific type of blog I like to read as you will find below.

Different - Cassowary Corner
A short and simple poem but very beautifully written (as are many of her other poems). Ann is also a pretty new blogger.

No babies - Headed in the Right Direction... I think?
I randomly stumble upon a lot of posts and I'm glad I found this one. Before reading this post, I had never come across the thought that others might not want to have babies in the future. I'm glad I did because it opened my mind just that little bit more. Trying to write a brief paragraph of my take on this post is near impossible. Once I finish this challenge I shall write a reply type post :)

Love is a funny thing... - My world, my thoughts, my musings
A very nicely written poem.

Expoland, anabandoned amusement park in Japan - Deserted Places
I love abandoned places,

Burried - Flux Capacitor
Another great poem worthy of your time.

25 Things Every Sims Player Can Relate to - EmmieLeey
If you've played Sims before you'll find yourself having a good laugh at how you can totally relate.

Dear Blog - Essentially Jess
Even though I've just started this blog, I feel like I'm going through the same thing today :'( I could just chuck in the towel right now. Each post I write takes double the amount of time it usually would as I'm using a laptop that constantly likes to freeze because my darn Macbook decided to go and shit itself. Plus, it likes to randomly turn Insert and Cap Locks on. Not only that, being this pregnant, no matter where or how I sit I can never get comfortable. Eugggh!

Anyway..thats me for now!

Blogging Challenge: Day Three - Eight Places You Want To Visit

Wow, there are so many places I'd love to visit...especially in Australia. I will definitely be exploring our backyard before my time has come. I remember being in high school and saying "Urgh can't wait to get out of Australia. I want to live in another country" and it's only in the past year or so that I've realised how beautiful our country really is. Now I'm not too fussed to leave lol.
And even thought its pretty much a stone throw away New Zealand is a country that I've only recently come to appreciate. The natural beauties are amazing.
Anywho Id better shut up and get on with the 8 places I want to visit :)

Karinjini National Park, Western Australia.

Tolaga Bay, New Zealand

Mataranka Bitter Springs, Northern Territory, Australia

Lake Hillier, Western Australia

Waitomo Glow Worm Caves, Waikato, New Zealand

Keukenhof Gardens, Keukenhof, The Netherlands

Hokkaido, Japan

Ithaka Island, Greece

Drop me a comment if you've ever been to any of these places. I'd love to hear of your experience :)

Blogging Challenge - Day Two: Nine books you want to read

Hmmm this might be a hard one considering I have so many books I'd like to read lol.

Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee - Dee Brown
This book is pretty full on. I read most of it when I was younger but want to re-read it.

Angela's Ashes - Frank McCourt
I've actually read the sequel, Tis', and (at the time) didn't realise until I finished and looked him up online. It kind of felt just as awesome as finishing a book and discovering the next one is just about to come out but in reverse (if that makes sense?).

Shogun - James Clavell
Just do.

The Da Vinci Code - Dan Brown
Everyone at school was reading this book at one stage. I avoided it at the time but now I'd like to know what all the fuss was about!

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn - Mark Twain
I think it's safe to say this book is one of my all time favourite's. I absolutely love it and would like to read it again.

Darkness Hidden - Zoe Marriott
I've read The Night Itself and I love how Zoe writes. She awesome!

A Town Like Alice - Nevil Shut

The Power of One - Bryce Courtenay
Again, another novelist who's books I love reading. He was such an amazing novelist. My favourite book of his is Matthew Flinders Cat. I've lived in Sydney most of my life and until I read that book I had never realised there was a statue of a cat, who I now know as Trim, outside NSW State Library. Really enjoyed that book.

Clan of the Cave Bear - Jean M. Auel
Until I got this book for my birthday very recently, I didn't even know that Clan of the Cave Bear was a novel. I remember watching the movie when I was younger. Apparently it's better than the movie. We'll soon find out!

Blogging Challenge - Day One: Ten things about yourself

Today I stumbled upon Sharon's Book Nook, whilst I was there I found her 10 day blogging challenge. I've seen others around but none that quite caught my eye like this one. When I seen it I thought "hmm..I'll definitely enjoy that!". And I think this challenge in particular would be perfect for my fresh new blog. Soooo here goes!

Day one: Ten things about yourself

1. My partner and I are due to be first time parents sometime around the end of January or early February...eeek! Not long to go now! This pregnancy feels like it's just wizzed by. Its definitely been the best experience of my life so far. Super excited to meet our little girl.

2. I would really really love to have a garden balcony. Thing is I have no experience gardening and really wouldn't know where to start :( Well, actually, today I kind of made a start but not really (I think Im cheating maybe). I bought some Opal Basil from my local nursery. It smells amazing. I've also figured my balcony gets its sunlight in the afternoon and can be pretty windy so I may need to invest in some kind of wind breaker thing,.

3. I love reading and books themselves. I've been a reader since I was a youngster. Not only do I love reading but I love the smell (don't even get me started!!), feeling, weight and pages of books. That might sound a bit weird lol but every book is different and that's why I enjoy them so much.

4. Knitting is something I also enjoy doing but I'm certainly not the best. I can knit scarves and that about it :( I've tried Youtubing for help but nope...I can only learn face to face when it comes to knitting.

5. From Sydney, Australia.

6. I have a pretty good sense of humour but then again have you ever met an Aussie without some sense of humour? Don't answer that if you have!

7. Lover of old cars. When I was a kid, every Australia Day, my dad would take me to Hyde Park/Macquarie St in the city and he would spend the day telling me all about them. I'm not expert on them or anything but I do enjoy them very much.

8. I haven't been over seas yet and before I do I'd love to travel around Australia. It would be great to explore our backyard first. Eventually when I do get to travel, I would definitely like to go to New Zealand (even though its only a stone throw away), South America and Europe among many other places.

9. My partner really is my best friend. A lot of people probably say this but I couldn't even try to imagine life with out my other half. He's been the best partner ever through this pregnancy and it wouldn't have been the same without him.

10. I like going on walking tracks around Sydney. I've lived in Sydney for most of my life and going on those walking tracks are on of the best ways to explore Sydney. Especially around Sydney Harbour.

Praying for Sydney and Peshawar

“Today, just take time to smell the roses, enjoy those little things about your life, your family, spouse, friends, job. Forget about the thorns -the pains and problems they cause you - and enjoy life” -Bernard Kelvin Clive, Your Dreams Will Not Die

This week has been devastating.

On Monday, we had the siege in Sydney which ended with two innocent lives lost and a number of traumatized victims. It feels like an open wound and whenever I think about what happened I fight tears. I will never forget the looks of horror on those poor people's faces as they escaped the Lindt cafe. My thoughts are with the families and victims of all involved. Living in Sydney myself and (before going on maternity leave) working at Martin Place, it really hit close to home. Australia will never forget the innocent Aussies caught up on December 15th 2014.

Then in Peshawar, Pakistan, the Taliban killed 148 people...a majority of whom were children. So fricken heart breaking. I will never ever understand how anyone could do that. Never. How could you be that evil? And yet we still have these lunatics parading around planning the next attack on innocent people.

I know that tonight and for many years to come, the victims of the Sydney siege and Peshawar attack will be in many thoughts and prayers.

Both incidents are a reminder not to take your life or loved ones for granted. Every day is a gift and that's why we are all living in the present.

Stay peachy

There are a million things I want to post about right now. I've written drafts but just don't think they are ready to be posted yet. I love quotes so thought I would make my first post about a quote I keep in mind daily.

"You can be the ripest, juciest peach in the world and there's still going to be somebody who hates peaches" - Dita Von Teese

To me this quote is a reminder that no matter who you are or what you do in life not everyone is going to like you or what you do. It doesn't matter if you are the kindest person ever. There will always be someone to criticize the things we choose to do in life...the clothes we wear, the way we wear our hair, our decisions, what we look like, our jobs..everything. And if they can't find something to criticize or bitch about, they'll make something up.

The important thing to remember is be who you are, love yourself (even if its only a little bit lol) and keep moving forward

Welcome!

I'm sure that not many people bother to read welcome posts but in case anyone (like me!) actually does then here goes. I'll keep it short and snappy ;)

I wrote a previous blog a few years ago which I decided to stop writing as my life changed and no longer had any relevance to what I was blogging about...on top of that I lost the time. Life changes, we change as people and thats how things are I guess. But it wasn't easy to just stop writing, that blog was kind of like a second home or a good old friend. Even now all this time later I find myself saying "ahh dammit! Wish I could blog about that". And so that's how this blog was conceived. Not too much info I hope?
I will be posting about things I find interesting, funny, sad, annoying...pretty much what ever I like and I hope you enjoy reading :) If not I'm sure there's the perfect blog for you somewhere out there waiting for you to read it or even write it.

Oh yes! Speaking of other blogs in cyberspace, I do love reading other people's blogs too so if you have one just drop your url in a comment or flick me an email.
